Why Adoption?

From the beginning of our marriage, Joni and I knew that adoption would be part of our lives. It is more than a nagging feeling or a passing idea - it is a calling. That calling has been confirmed time and time again by close friends who have adopted or who are adopted and hearing the blessing it has been in their lives. At every turn, God seems to have prompted us - never allowing the passion for adoption to fade too much...

And so we started our biological family with this in mind. Between each of our children we discovered an internal conflict between the desire to continue growing our family the 'old fashioned way' and adopting a child into our family. Each time there seemed to be an obstacle or circumstance that perculded us from moving too far into the process of adopting.

And just recently we had come to the conclusion that it appeared as if we would be waiting some time to adopt - until our youngest was 5-7 years old - to adopt a child into our home. We want to fill a need, and felt that an older child rather than an infant was a more pressing need (as there tend to be long waiting lists for infant adoptions). The time for adoption seemed like now.

That's when we heard about Embryo Adoption...
